FAQ

We like to keep things simple.
Here are some of the questions we’re most often asked about our handmade soap and natural skincare, all made in small batches here in Argyll using plant-based ingredients.

Are your products tested on animals?

No. We do not test on animals and never have.

Are your products vegan?

Yes. All of our products are made using plant-based ingredients and are suitable for vegans.

What ingredients do you use in your soap?

Our handmade soaps are made using olive oil, shea butter and coconut oil, blended with essential oils for natural scent.

These ingredients are chosen to gently cleanse while helping the skin feel soft and comfortable.

Do your soaps contain palm oil?

No. We do not use palm oil in any of our products.

Do your products contain artificial fragrances or colours?

No. We use essential oils for scent and do not add artificial fragrances or colours.

Are your products suitable for sensitive or dry skin?

Our products are made with simple, gentle ingredients that many people prefer for dry or sensitive skin.

However, as every skin type is different, we recommend checking the ingredient list and carrying out a small patch test before use.

Can your soaps be used by the whole family?

Yes, our soaps are suitable for everyday use.

For younger skin, we recommend use from around 36 months and upwards.

How long does a bar of handmade soap last?

This can vary depending on how it’s used.

Handmade soap will last longer if it is allowed to dry properly between uses. A draining soap dish helps keep the bar firm and long-lasting.

How should I store handmade soap?

Keep your soap in a cool, dry place.

After use, allow it to dry fully between uses using a well-draining soap dish. This helps extend the life of the bar.

Why is there a white layer on my soap?

This is called soda ash.

It’s a natural and harmless part of the soap-making process and does not affect the quality or performance of the soap.

What does “naturally occurring in essential oils” mean?

Some ingredients listed (such as limonene or linalool) are naturally present in essential oils.

They are listed for transparency and to meet cosmetic regulations.

Do you list full ingredients?

Yes. Every product includes a full ingredient list on both the product page and the label.

We believe in being clear about what goes into everything we make.

Do your products meet UK cosmetic regulations?

Yes. All products are fully compliant with UK and EU cosmetic regulations.

Each one has been independently assessed and certified as safe, with a Cosmetic Product Safety Report.

Is your packaging eco-friendly?

We keep packaging as simple and low-waste as possible.

We use recyclable materials such as paper, cardboard and glass, along with biodegradable packing materials like wood wool. We also reuse packaging where we can.

Where are your products made?

All products are handmade in Tarbert, Argyll, on the west coast of Scotland.

Everything is made in small batches, with time and care.

What makes handmade soap different from commercial soap?

Handmade soap is often chosen by people looking for simpler ingredients and a gentler feel on the skin.

It is made using plant oils and butters and cured slowly, which helps create a longer-lasting and more comfortable bar.
